...Despite the setback from Hurricane Katrina, the Gulfport-Biloxi International
Airport is in the enviable position of being a growing airport, thanks in part to
the area's casinos and continuing appeal as a tourist location. The growth some
time back prompted the airport to begin a multi-phase expansion, which includes
moving the general aviation facility and creating a light industrial/office complex.
...The airport's $51 million expansion will be completed in the spring of 2007
and will provide two new gates, an expanded lobby and ticket area, improved
roads to and from the terminal, larger baggage claim and security areas and
space for two new airlines. It will expand the airport terminal from 92,000
square feet to 165,000 square feet.
