PART II: AEROSPACE OVERVIEW
Stennis International Airport/Airpark
focus: geospatial
...The Stennis International Airpark sits adjacent to the 600-acre airport, which
has one of the longest runways in the South at 8,500 feet - third longest in the
state of Mississippi.
...The airpark, a U.S. Customs Port of Entry, consists of about 100 acres
accessible via State Road 603 and Interstate 10. Land at the park is available for
lease or for sale, and Port and Harbor Commission funds are available for
special infrastructure needs.
...This area has proven to be a contender for some of the highest profile
aerospace developments in the nation. The immediate vicinity was a finalist for
both the Boeing 787 and EADS projects.
...One of the airpark's tenants is the Joint Airborne Lidar Bathymetry Technical
Center of Expertise, a joint federal project of the Army Corps of Engineers,
Naval Oceanographic Office and the NOAA.
